International
Complaint Handling Application: |
|
The complaints handling application allows companies to process various types of complaints and is used by many different types of organizations, both public and
private.
|
|
The software company contacted
Alcoda Software with the
following requirements:
- Client Operating System support: Windows (95, 98, NT & 2000)
- Language Support : UK English, US English, Dutch (as a minimum)
- Stand-alone: No development effort required, i.e. add to installation routine
- Ease of use: at least as easy/ intuitive as say Microsoft Word for example, i.e. highlight & hot-key
- Spell checking capabilities: as "good" as Microsoft Word, limited yet accurate, options returned
- Look & feel: similar to "the standard", i.e. Microsoft Word
They chose our product over about 50
others in their Internet search and evaluation process. The Distribution
License negotiation was based on our generous and flexible
Site
License pricing.
Write Source is integrated into the complaints handling application's
install procedure and silently installed, placing shortcuts in the
appropriate Start Menu group. Users can now spell check any data within
any field in the complaints database. |

Using
EditExt to transcribe Voice Mail Messages: |
|
A firm, in Silicon Valley, which transcribes Voice Mail Messages is using
EditExt to transcribe those messages before sending them
out to their customers. Active Spell
and the Site License Pricing were two deciding factors in their decision.
Another important consideration was the company's future plans to expand
into the international market, which would require using some of Alcoda
Software's many different language spelling dictionaries.
The company's transcribers specialize in more
than one language and can choose their individual specific dictionaries from
our many different language spelling dictionaries. |

| Web
Application development, using Microsoft InterDev 6.0: |
|
Mozes Cleveland & Corporation is using
Write Source, with Microsoft InterDev
6.0, to create complex web sites for Fortune 500 companies.
Their programmers and content writers use an office computer as well as
tele-computing from home.
With Write Source, they will not only be able to spell check their content, but
extend their prose using Roget's Thesaurus and Definitions Dictionary.
In addition to Write Source being able to provide the benefits they need, there
was an important question about the Site License. Could an employee
install Write Source on both the office and home computer, and be counted as one
licensee.
Yes, the Write Source Site License is flexible enough to allow one
programmer or content writer to install and use on both computers, as long
as they are not used concurrently. They will be adding several more
licenses soon and these will be added a reduced per user license fee,
based on the total number of users (not based on just the added number).
Another example of flexible Alcoda Software Site License. |

Chicago
Police Department - Oracle8 Database Editor: |
|
The Chicago Police Department is using our text editor as
part of their Criminal History Records Information System (CHRIS) program, an Oracle8
database and in their Arrest Application.
The officers use
the editor to create and spell check the narrative portion of their
report. They fill out some portions of their report and when ready to
write the narrative part of the report, they click a button in CHRIS,
which opens our editor. The officer then writes the narrative, formats it,
spell checks it and when ready closes the editor. CHRIS/Oracle8 then saves
the narrative into the it's database.

Utilities
Agency - Oracle Database Editor: |
|
Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant, a Constellation Energy Group Company,
is a large power agency on the United States East
Coast using EditExt with their Oracle database.
EditExt replaces the "Oracle" editor and opens an Oracle
temporary file in AutoSave Mode (using the -AS
command line parameter) with Margins dynamically set, using the -Mxx
command line parameter.
The user clicks within the Oracle8 database and
EditExt is launched
with the desired text (via an Oracle8 created temporary file) in the same
margin layout (using EditExt's custom margins command line
switch/parameter), they edit the file, spell check with regular spell
checking or Active Spell, closes the document or EditExt. The file
is automatically saved (using another EditExt command line switch/parameter)
back to the temporary file and Oracle takes care
of the rest.
